感谢斯蒂芬的灯塔（Stephen’s Lighthouse）的报道，美国爱达荷州进行了一次青少年（称为Digital Natives，年龄在12-25岁，共约100多人）对于公共图书馆认知的调查，一些结论似乎对一问写《图书馆2.0》第一章可作参考。全文在这里下载。（就调查方法以及调查报告的写法而言，本文也有很多可资学习的地方，简单而周详）

文中的主要结论有18条：

1 青少年普遍重视学习和教育Digital natives place a high value on learning and education.
2 教师在学习中起到非常重要的作用Teachers play an extremely important role in digital natives’ learning experiences.
3 兼容并蓄相互学习也很重要Learning about opposing viewpoints and having interactions with others are important.
4 寓教于乐很受欢迎Both younger and older digital natives are most likely to pay attention to information that is fun and interesting.
5 网络信息并不总是可信的Information on the Internet is not always trustworthy.
6 因特网通常是搜索信息的起点The Internet is typically the starting point when a search for information is begun.
7 总体而言，来自图书馆和书本上的信息比网络的信息可信度要高很多Overall, information obtained through books and libraries is much more trustworthy than information found online.
8 查找信息方便性最重要Convenience is most important when digital natives look for information.
9 公共图书馆上网能够向青少年提供更多的可靠信息Public libraries should make websites available that would allow digital natives to access credible information online.
10 图书馆的物理存在正在从一个提供搜索工具的地方向提供一个娱乐环境转变The purpose of a library’s physical location is perceived to be shifting from one of providing tools for research, to that of entertainment.
11 即使不读书的青少年也承认他们会去书店找乐子Even digital natives who do not enjoy reading admit that they go to bookstores for entertainment.
12 青少年认为图书馆是认真工作、安静和存放图书的地方Digital natives generally perceive libraries as places for serious work, quiet, and books.
13 图书馆更适合于小孩和老人，而不是青少年Libraries are mostly for young children and older adults, but not for those that fall into the age range that encompasses digital natives.
14 图书馆可以通过改变其面貌而改变其在人们心中的形象，变得更加深入人心Libraries can change how they are perceived by changing their look, and becoming more involved with the community.
15 图书馆应该在活动的设计方面融入社区Libraries must involve the community when designing programs and events.
16 为了留住老的读者并吸引新的读者，图书馆应该提供更为广泛的服务、活动和环境In order to keep current users coming, and bring in non-users, libraries need to offer a range of services, activities and environments.
17 图书馆应该做好形象宣传以便社区知道他们所提供的服务Libraries need to advertise so that communities will know about the programs they offer.
18 图书馆应该提供多方面的场所并进行广泛的活动以满足社区多样性的需求Libraries should have multiple floors or multiple sections so that they can host a broad range of activities and cover a broad range of community needs.

可以包括如下内容：

• 提供青少年阅览室Provide a teen/young adult section.
• 提供多媒体阅览室Provide media rooms.
• 提供举行大型娱乐活动的区域Reserve some areas for larger-scale entertainment.
• 提供会议空间Make meeting spaces available.
• 丰富的色彩使环境更有吸引力Add some color and make environment more appealing.
• 更新家具设备Update furnishings.
• 提供自然采光的开放空间Provide open spaces with natural light.
